Repairing raspberries for Siberia: planting and care for good large-fruited varieties

Repair raspberries have been recognized by many domestic gardeners and are cultivated in most regions of our country. Repairing raspberries for Siberia are especially interesting, where the soil and climatic conditions are quite complicated and getting a rich harvest can be very difficult.

Features of remont raspberry

Repair raspberry combines several types at once. In recent years, growing attention has been paid to the cultivation of such varieties, due to some features and positive characteristics of remont raspberries:

  • repairing varieties are able to form a crop in the year of planting;
  • such raspberries are practically not affected by the most common diseases and pests;
  • there is no need to use the shelter of the aerial parts for the winter period;

  • most varieties belong to the category of undersized or medium-sized and do not need supports or trellises;
  • As a rule, repairing varieties are completely deprived of the ability to form basal shoots, which greatly facilitates the maintenance of raspberry.

It should be remembered that even very good and promising repair varieties will not be able to form a full and high yield with insufficient care or violation of agricultural technology. It is also necessary to carefully consider the choice of variety and give preference only to the best and zoned varieties adapted to the soil and climatic conditions in the cultivation region.

Repair raspberries: care features

The best and large-fruited varieties for Siberia

Siberia is characterized by a significant increase in climate continentality and the repeated return of cold weather in the spring, which requires the choice of only the most resistant to adverse weather conditions varieties of berry culture. Of particular interest from the point of view of home gardening is large-fruited raspberry of repair varieties.

Landing Technology in Siberia

Remontance is the ability of a berry culture to continuously bear fruit throughout the growing season. Repairing raspberry varieties form a crop not only on biennial, but also on annual shoots. Such high productivity requires strict observance of the rules for choosing a site for growing and planting technology for a permanent place:

  • in the household plot, you should choose the most illuminated and even place: in conditions of even slight shading, there may be a significant delay in the onset of ripening raspberry berries, which causes a noticeable decrease in overall productivity;
  • planting remont raspberries is best planted on the south side of buildings or find a site that is covered from the cold wind from the north by fruit and berry stands;
  • preference should be given to areas represented by loose and fertile soils, due to the significant removal of nutrients from the soil;

  • plots where solanaceous crops, raspberries or blackberries were grown in previous years should not be reserved for laying a new berry plantation;
  • ground water at the landing site should be located no closer than 1-1.5 m from the soil surface.

When planting most of the repairing raspberry varieties, it is recommended to keep the distance between rows of 1.5-2.5 m with an interval between plants in a row of 0.7-0.9 m. Plants need to be planted at the same depth at which they were grown in the nursery , or deepening by a few centimeters, which will allow the root system to remain at the optimum depth after the soil has been sedimented. In the Siberian region, it is desirable to carry out spring planting of seedlings of berry culture, which allows plants to take root well before winter frosts.

Subtleties of care

It is advisable to cultivate repairing raspberry varieties in Siberia according to standard technology, providing berry plantings with care that allows the plant to bear fruit abundantly for a long time:

  • the root system of the repairing varieties should be treated very carefully, avoiding both overdrying and waterlogging of the earthen coma around the roots;
  • regular surface loosening of the soil can be replaced by mulching the soil with peat or high-quality humus;
  • in the spring, the number of shoots on the plant should be normalized, leaving only the most strong, well-developed and productive branches;

  • Experienced gardeners recommend rationing the berry bushes with the ovaries, as their overabundance can adversely affect the quality indicators and presentation of the berry;
  • it is important to conduct a timely harvest and not leave ripe berries on the branches for too long;
  • if necessary, prophylactic treatment with folk remedies or insectofungicides is carried out;
  • in the autumn period, it is advisable to carry out a complete pruning of the aerial parts and grow the plant in an annual culture.

Repair raspberries: pruning in spring

It should be remembered that when determining planting dates and developing a scheme for caring for plantations of remont raspberries, weather conditions are required, and the harsh Siberian climate and late frosts often shift planting dates established by growing technology until mid-summer.
